Country Wedding In McCook Texas

Country weddings are my favorite! Last November (2017), I was hired to shoot a wedding in the lovely McCook, Texas. McCook is a farming town for the most part, and Wikipedia says it only has a population of about 90 residents. One of those residents was Mrs. Abigail Belicek (Kotzur at the time).

Abigail reached out to me to shoot her big day. It was going to be in the town where she grew up, and where her family owns some farmland.

I remember meeting her out there to scope out the scenery beforehand, and I immediately fell in love with McCook. The scenic drive is one that is filled with views of farmland and windmill farms. I knew I was going to love shooting at this place!

A Country Wedding In South Texas

The ceremony was held at the Church of The Immaculate Conception. This church is really old, and really cute if you ask me. Look at the photos of it, and you’ll see that it looks like one of those small town churches that you see in the movies. It reminds me more of the Hill Country and less of the Rio Grande Valley.

The Wedding Day

Abigail and Trevor had a simple, classy Catholic wedding. There was the beautiful ceremonial entrance, followed by a short sermon, and the exchange of vows.

Following the ceremony, we headed outside to capture some of the pictures that you’ll see of Trevor and Abigail by themselves. The silos in the background really made this country wedding feel authentic.

From there we went to the reception hall, which was a cute wooden barn that had been dressed up for the occasion.

Of all of things that I remember from this wedding, the thing that stuck out the most was the moment Abi, and Trevor showed up to the reception hall. They entered to a traditional German dance, and all of the family joined them. I had never seen something like that, but it was a lot of fun!

Check out the photos from this wedding, and if you’re having a country wedding I’d love to capture your big day!
